Michigan gridlock protest in State Capital against ‘excessive quarantine’

Lansing, Michigan - DW

Operation Gridlock-A protest with drivers honking their horns from vehicles surrounding the Michigan State Capitol building took place on Wednesday.

Organized by the Michigan Conservative Coalition and Michigan Freedom Fund, the demonstration, which also included a large gathering of people outside the Capitol building holding signs and waving flags, was in response to Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s “erratic, unilateral orders that threaten Michiganders’ economic existence,” according to a news release.

Whitmer has extended the state’s stay at home order until April 30.

“Michigan has the third-highest number of COVID-19 cases in the country, and we’re still on the upswing,” Whitmer said last week. “We must continue to do everything we can to slow the spread and protect our families.”

The Governors Executive Orders

Some good and some may be heavy handed. But due to the circumstances more caution is understandable to a point, but also forward movement for the future should be addressed and Michigan should not be allowed to slip further into the economic debacle that’s currently happening.
